1 in 6 Canadian couples experience infertility, yet we know very little about how infertility factors into the day-to-day life of working women.

At the Infertility and Work Lab, we explore this.

Our goal is to uncover important information and gaps that can better inform women and their families, government policy and organizational practices to provide more equitable environments.

According to a survey from Fertility Network UK, 50% of women did not disclose their treatment to their employer out of fear that the employer wouldn’t take them seriously and over 40% due to concerns about its negative effects on their career prospects.
Approximately half of women experiencing infertility rate it as the most stressful experience in their life, and 61% rate it as more stressful than divorce.
16% of surveyed women undergoing fertility treatment resigned from their work after starting treatment.
